A great quote from a fellow Rochesterian about the Stew:
“While I respect and acknowledge the fine feature films that often play on platforms like Netflix, I am afraid I have to come down on the side of traditionalism, and agree with Spielberg that only theatrical, wide release motion pictures, made for the big screen, should be eligible for consideration at the Academy Awards. We already have various television awards for high-quality programming on home delivery systems. So, at this time, I don’t see the need for an expansion or redefining of what constitutes a film eligible for best picture, for instance, at the Oscars. Lastly, I do not want to hasten the demise of traditional cinema, by making it even more difficult for producers and directors to attempt to have their work displayed on the big screen. As a society, we already spend too much time at work, and at home, and it would be a shame to further undermine the cinema-going experience. Thank you.”
-Christopher J. Wilmot, film producer, director, and member of the Screen Actors Guild.
